Modded Aquaclear 500 (110) -- skimmer outflow and refugium

I used to use an Aquaclear 70 as my skimmer outflow from my Coralife Super Skimmer 125. Recently, I swapped it out for an Aquaclear 500, which I also am using as a refugium. I installed an acrylic baffle to seperate the AC into two compartments: one for the bubble trap, the other for the 'fuge. I also use a small baffle at the bottom to create a compartment for the sand.

It's a 9W power compact light. It's made by AA Aquarium.

Is that a CSS60? Did you do this as a way to reduce the bubbles in the tank from that skimmer? If so how did that work out for you?

It's a CSS 125. I did set it up in part to reduce microbubbles. I initially tried the diffuser box, which I modded eight ways from Sunday, but was never happy with this giant box in my tank. Then I switched the outflow to an Aquaclear 70 and used sponges to trap the bubbles. Worked quite well for awhile, but then I set up this AC 500, because it's bigger and I could make the mini 'fuge in it.
