lighting equipment help

Can I get away with putting a 400 watt MH directly on top of my 70gallon Oceanic Tech tank 36 x 24x 18 without a chiller ?

I think that would depend on a lot of variables such as:

ambient room temperature
current tank temperature with current equipment that add heat (powerheads)
height of light above water
Are any fans being used for evaporation cooling?
Is a sump being used?
I say go for it and see if it raises the temp. If it raises the daytime temp too much, either add some PC fans or raise the light until you can get a chiller.
