Power Backup Options
What are some popular choices for backup power for air pumps and heaters?
I do not want to invest in a gas generator. Do those computer backup batteries work well? What do you want to hook up to it? I assume heater and air pump? How do you use an air pump? Do you attach some tube to it and put the other end in the water to make bubbles? How about powerheads? |

Depending on the size of your tank, heater on UPS isn't necessary. A decent sized UPS such as the APC 2000-2500Kva with the secondary battery will power a simple powerhead for many hours.
Having said that, I've spent an entire night using an inverter plugged into the accessory outlet in my car with a long extension cord periodically starting the engine to keep the car battery charged. This was during an extended power outage. I bought one of those ultra-quiet Honda generators that are quiet enough to run all night the very next day.
