What is this in my torch coral?
I'll have to snap a pic when I get home, but I noticed last night when I fed my tank cyclopeeze, something strange was going on with my torch coral. On one of the heads (oddly enough it's the head that is a darker green than the others) there are two white tube openings that have a pink tint on the inside. I can't see the full tube, just the opening. I'd dismissed these as empty tubes when I got him, but, for the first time, I noticed little clear feather duster-like "CLAWS" reach out and grab at the food in the water. It did this for probably 5 minutes non-stop. What in the world are these things?
I'm sorry I'm asking without a pic, but maybe someone can show me a picture of what it might be and I can match it up. If not, I'll get a pic on here later. |

Yep, barnacles. I've got some in my torch coral as well. I've even seen some of their molts floating about.

After some research, I thought that's what they might be. Pretty cool to watch. It won't harm the coral in any way, will it?
