Increasing system volume w/o increasing display?
Example:
100 gallon display with a 20 gallon sump that hold skimmers, fuge, etc. Add several brute containers that hold 55 gallons each and plumb them inline with your system to increase the total system volume. Would this increase in water volume be beneficial or will it cause problems? I figure the more water the more stability. |

means bigger pumps to get through all the tanks, lights, etc... but otherwise it is an awesome way to increase stability, give places for things such as grow out tanks, seperate fuge, remote dsb, etc.
If you have the 'room/space' and the money it's a no-brainer ![]()

I would say no, but i'm no expert. You may, just becasue it will be harder to keep a high oxygen level with an undersized skimmer.

I have a trickle filter..does this provide sufficient oxygen levels?
I am not adding any more fish, just increasing the volume of water so why would there be a need for more oxygen then is currently being supplied? Not doubting you, just asking questions. Anyone have any ideas how to plumb this kind of thing? Im currently looking at lots of peoples setups in their galleries but any input would be awesome. |
