New tank: air bubble in glass... DISASTER??
Hi guys,
A friend of mine just bought a custom aquarium from a known manufacturer which I won't name right now. He noticed a small air bubble (about 2mm dia.) in one of the side glass panes.... is this bad news? Can it lead to a major disaster down the road?? The manufacturer says that it might have been the caused by stress when my friend picked it up.......(obviously ...)... anyway is that even possible?? My uneducated guess on the matter is that this is a defect in the glass and the manufacturer should fix or replace the pane at their costs...... Any opinion, information or links to sites/threads that might help us are very welcome... Thanks in advance Last edited by Ceak; 03/01/2007 at 12:30 PM. |

My 33g Oceanic had a very small bubble in it when I purchased it. The bubble is at the top and has slowly formed into a crack. I dont think stress could lead to a bubble. It is a defect in the glass. I would not waste the time in setting it up as it could lead to a problem like mine. It wasn't glasscages was it?

nope not glasscages.
That's what we fear, if air is trapped inside the glass it will surely try to find its way out, spreading into smaller bubbles and eventualy cracking... How long did it take before yours cracked pugbreath13? |

6 months to the day that I set it up. I got it from Petco and they are not being very cooperative about me returning it.
