What are these stripped things?

They are forming all over my tank in the live rock.

Wow, I was thinking that. Looks like I'm going to have about 100 of them here pretty soon. Do I need to worry about too many of them or will they be ok?

They are harmless. Just be aware, any time you have a significant increase in a population of filter feeds, such as these, or feathrdusters, or sponges, etc. it probably means you have quite a bit of food available to them in your water. Make sure you are not overfeeding, overstocked, and/or under skimming.

100s of mini brittle stars in one rock is a normal situation in nature. Probably doesn't mean that you're overfeeding as much as it means you're approaching natural levels of food availability on a reef. Unfortunately, that's not good in a small closed system like a reef tank!

They are great for keeping the rockwork clean. I wouldn't worry about them overpopulating.
