Help Me Light This
Tank is acrylic 72x30x30 with an 8 inch wide center brace.
To keep the bulbs from being directly over the center brace I was thinking about a using a combination of lumenarc reflectors. 1. (2) Lumenarc III's and (2) Lumenarc III Mini - is this too much over a 72" tank? 2. (4) Lumenarc Stealth Reflector 250W De -once again too much? 3. (3) Lumenarc Stealth Reflector 250W De - would the glass in the reflector help keep most of the heat off if mounted directly over the cross brace? I plan on using 250w HQI ballasts. I already have one SLS Blue wave VII and want to be able to use it in my lighting plans. Any suggestions on the above plans, or any other opinions on what I can do to properly light this tank? |

I've got 5 LumenMax2 SE reflectors 10" over my 210g (72x24x31), 3-400w 14k EVC's and 2-250w 6500k Iwasaki's. All juiced by Blue wave ballasts. I wanted a lot of blue but didn't want to sacrafice too much white/yellow daylight being cut out. I took a chance with the New Carbon Resistor Model Iwasaki, and I'm very pleased with the results.
Are you going with the same color bulbs all across? Five 250w 14k's would be killer. I'd recommend Sunlight Supply's LumenMax Reflector Line. You could purchase 5 SE or DE Reflectors, use your current 250w BW 7 ballast for the middle one over the brace with no problem, and purchase 2 more 250w Dual BW7 ballasts. Even though your tank is 30" deep, the LumenMax's will getRdone. |
