Question Brain Coral

This maybe a really dumb question but do you have to feed a Brain Coral manually or does it get all its nutrition from the light? It looks like it has a mouth. Do they have a mouth? Thanks

Yes, they have mouths, and yes they need to be fed on occassion. They'll let you know when they are hungry by sending out feeder tentacles. Just lightly squirt a little meaty food on it such as mysis shrimp, and it will close up and draw the food to its mouth.

Theres a lot of debate as to whether any corals need to be fed or not. Most corals don't require it but seem to do better when target fed. IME, most LPS seem to do better when target fed. I have a plate, frogspawn and torch that all grow very quickly when target fed. However my leathers don't care too much.

I would say the brain would enjoy being target fed but it is not a requirement of keeping it.
