[tongue in cheek]
Based on the advice I have seen and received on this forum, I am pretty certain that not even the mighty Pacific is sufficient space for a Tang. [/tongue in cheek] |

I have a silver dollar sized yellow tang and niger trigger in my 75 and they r doing great together....The niger eats up and spits out the big chunks of food for the other fish to eat along with him. 2 aggressive fish that get along together and my 2 clown fish.

I had a yellow tank approx 4" in a 72 gallon bowfront for a long time and he was fine. Just so you know, you will hear a wide variety of opinions on proper tank sizes for tangs - also some of the tangs can be a bit tricky to care for - very prone to ich and other parasites. I used to feed mine Sea Veggies every day - supplemented with Selcon, Vita-Chem, and Kent Garlic Xtreme and he was healthy as a horse.

Tangs are big swimmer fish that need that room to stay healthy and disease free, that is why a lot of them get the ich and other usually stress induced ailments. Just like people, if we get stressed out and stay like that, our health will decrease over time.

Maybe a Tomini tang paired up with a Niger Trigger? You'll most likely run out of room w/ the Trigger but the tang might be okay even at full size.

For long term care in a 75g I wouldn't put any triggers in it, and only Scopas, Black, Gem, Kole, and Tomini Tangs. Even the Black and Gem are pushing it, and a Purple is just too large (and aggressive)

I agree with travis, I could keep a baby hippo tang in my 55gal for bout a year with no problems until he got too big and had to be moved to a bigger tank or sold back before his health began to deterioate. Its poor husbandry to try and keep animals that wouldn't thrive in the environment we can provide at all stages of their life.
