20g tall temporary setup

On my 125g I would like to change some of my plumbing to accommodate a change in flow for a sps tank...till this point its been very lightly stocked with LPS and softies. Since all of my livestock can fit in a 20g tall tank how should I go about setting of the tank for about a week?

Is there a way to do this so I don’t have to worry about a cycle...I have the necessary components like powerheads, skimmers, 175w halide, (sand and live rock if needed) heaters and new salt water or water that I can take out of my 125.

Any suggestions?

You should be ok with moving the live rock and corals to the 20g and filling it with water from your 125. I would not suggest moving the sand though. Also, make sure there is plenty of water flow in the 20g and you should be ok for a week.

One question though, are you adding one 175MH to the 125g? That alone wont be enough for SPS corals. Or are you adding an additional 175 to an existing lighting system?

The 175 is a spare for the 20g setup...I have 3-250w halides for my 125g 20,000k
