Just Switched form DE to SE have question on placement????

I just switched from a CA fixture with 2 x 250W DE(14K) w/ 4 x 55w PC

TO

2 x PFO Pendants 250W (10K) SE with 2 x 28W PCs.

I had the DE fixture like 5 inches off the water and never had any problems with bleaching or anything. I have started the new pendants 8 inches off the water which makes the SE bulb 11inches off the water due to its placement in the pendant.

I also switched from 14K Hamilton DE to 10K Reeflux SE.

I am keep primarily SPS, what is the common distance most people keep there bulbs off the water.

I know I have to acclimate the corals to the new lights(I have cut my cycles, etc.., and am phasing the light into the tank) , I am just looking for a general placement idea from some experienced reefers.
