Conflicting Info re Clowns

Ok, so I'm a bt confused. I have seen some people on here say that you need a fairly established tank to keep clown fish. Is this true as it seems like clowns are the first fish that most people get.

If your conditions are good and stable, they should cause no problem keeping them. My clowns are doing great because i keep them in perfect water parameters.

not true

clowns are hardy and can be added after the cycle is really completed.

Here's mine on the 1st day, a yellow and orange ocellaris.

Clowns no problem in a new tank, but if you want a nem w/ them that's another story.

He probably means True Perculas when he says "clown fish" and it's known that Oceallaris do better than Perculas in new tanks, just my 2 cents...

That's an important distinction. My lfs guru got me tank raised Ocellaris for my first fish for this very reason.

Ok, so it sounds like tank raised Oceallaris would be a safe bet then.

It would be your best bet. I added mine three days ago. They fed within hours of being introduced to qt. They now swim to the glass when they see me and now feed from the tip of my turkey baster. If you are lucky enough to have an lfs that deals with ORA Farm and will hold them for at least a week after arrival you will have a couple of very hardy and entertaining fish!
