Isn't wet skimming running a skimmer in your sump?

Wet skimming is having the water level nearer the cup, so the foam drop in the cup easier, producing more skimmate but less concentrated.

Wet skimmate = light colored, water like
dry skimmate = dark colored, soup texture

wet skimming is useful if you have a lot of junk in your water that you need to get rid of. I wouldn't do it constanly because A) you're going to be constantly emptying your collection cup and B) you'll deplete your water of the good nutrients and minerals a lot faster
