hey guys i set up my tank for about 5 days and is progressing ok ! my qs is how many hours a day should i have my lights ON? should i start using this lights timer already? or when you r cycling you need lights ON all the time?
do you get problems if you keep them On all the time?

May get more of an algae bloom with lights on when cycling, but you'll be more apt to save more photosynthetic hitch hikers. Put the lights on now, but decrease the photoperiod to only 5-6 hours a day. You can increase as the cycle progresses. Good luck!

i've found that some people say the lights should be on less while your tank cycles, espically if you have an alage problem, less light=less alage, i would put it on a time though now just so you don't forget, might start at 6-8 hours, thats what i did and now i'm at 12 hrs
