Aiptasia

I have been using Joes Juice with alot of sucess. But it seems like I can not get a handle on them. I heard once that lemon juice works as well and is alot less expensive. Does lemon juice have any negitive side effects as far as water chemistry, fish or other living things? Any help would be helpfull.

like dc said, i've had better luck with peppermint shrimps. TRUE peppermint shrimps, not camel shrimps, which are often sold as peps. I've also heard vinegar works as well instead of joes, and no lemon juice and vinegar wouldnt harm anything else i dont think. Just inject it right into the aptasia and it should work.

I always use lemon juice to control any of that nasty aptaisia. I just get a needle, fill it with about 2mL of lemon juice. Stick the needle into it. It will quickly start to shrivel up. I just inject the full 2mLs into it and it is gone... for good. The corals around it tend to close up for a few days but come back fine. As for tank chemistry, a bit of lemon juice isnt going to hurt anything. A few mL's of acid in a multi galon tank will have no effect.

hope this help.

Jon

I recently added a CBB (fragile) and 3 peps in my 90. I cannot find a single aiptasia when there were scores.

I use full strength kalkwasser, and inject them with a needle. Kills them every time.

CBB cleaned out my infestation in less than a week, as well as my feather dusters! Nice looking fish to boot!

I think adding a natural predator that you wouldn't mind having in the tank would eliminate your need to prey on them.
