How much flow through my sump???

Hello all i still consider myself a newbie so thats why this is such a novice question. Anyways i have a 20 tall sump with a bubble tower intake section. This is also where the skimmer is located. So there is alot of bubles here. From there is overflows into the Fuge section then through a 3 baffle bubble trap. My return pump is a rio 1700 against aprox 4' of head putting about 350 gph back into the 65gal display. I have a constant problem with micobubbles entering the tank from the return line (3/4"pvc).

I am thinking of installing a valve on the 1" drain line to slow down the flow into the sump. I dont know if this will help? suggestions?
