question

how can i stop the glass turning geeen just above the sand level?

You can't "stop" stuff like this from happening. In order to stop it, you would have to make your aquarium inhospitable... exactly what you're trying not to do. Because you have a nice place for stuff you want to live, there will be stuff you don't want as well. Best you can do is keep it clean. The two methods I use are a magnetic scraper and a razor blade. Be careful with these so as not to scratch your glass. If you have acrylic... don't use these tools.
