250 watt sunpod

I'm planning on adding a 250 watt sunpod onto my 24 gallon nanocube. Will it overheat the tank? I don't want to buy a chiller... I plan to run the tank open top with an eggcrate, so the evaporation will help keep the tank cool.

250 watt Sunpod seems like overkill on a 24 gallon.

Are you hanging it, or will it be on the legs right ontop of the tank?

Id go with the 70 or 150, itll save you cash all around, and youll have less heat issues.

I'm running a 150 watt Sunpod on a 30 gal. cube and I too was worried about insufficient light. But all my SPS are doing well, including a motipora frag on the bottom of the tank, its polyps are healthy and growing well. In the summer the tank heat goes way up with the MH lighting, I use a fan too cool the tank, with a 250 Watt light you'd really be getting into dangerously high temps on a 24 gallon tank.

How deep is your 30, out of curiousity.

Im considering going with a sunpod on my new 45 cube, and was trying to decide if I wanted to try the 150 instead of the 250.
