refugium/pods

If I have LR rubble and Chaeto in my fuge, will pods grow there automatically if I'm lighting it 10 hours a day or do I have to add them to start the cycle?

And which of these fish eat the pods?

OC clown
green chromis
Tangaroa Goby (does this guy behave like a diamond? sand sifting etc?)
Flame Angel
Psuedochromis
Flasher wrasses

Cheato will probably bring pods with it: they live in the tangle and breed in the lr rubble.

Most any fish not a total vegetarian will eat a pod if convenient: I'd bet on the wrasses and the tangaroa goby---I doubt it will sandsift anything significant: it's probably one of the very small ones, like the high-fins, about 2" max and very slender. The most dedicated pod eaters are the dragonets, but they're not too compatible with pseudochromis or wrasses: the flashers are probably more easy-going than the fairy wrasses: I've had fairies kill several small gobies.

Yes, the pods are there. They most likely came on your live rock and will continue to breed in the fuge. The chaeto will also be a good 'refuge' for pods to grow.

so the tangaroa probably isn't as beneficial to a system as a diamond or another sand sifter huh? Darn. I bought the thing thinking it was a sifter too because it looked so much like the diamond, which I thought it was. Maybe I can return it if I am able to catch the thing.

thanks for the info on pods.
