remora HOB skimmer bubble problem

My HOB remora skimmer is shooting a million micro bubbles in to my display. I'm running a maxijet 120 on it. Anyone else have this problem? What can be done to get rid of these bubbles?

Anyone?

Do they have a bubble trap for these skimmers?

What can cause this problem? When I first got this skimmer it didn't do this, but I took the skimmer off for 2 weeks. Now when I started it up again today it was producing tons of micro bubbles. Can water conditioner in the system cause this as I just added water today as well.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

yes water conditioner can cause this and yes, they make a bubble trap for the skimmer.

You might just want to wait it out to see if it gets better on its own though the surface skimmer/bubble trap for the Remora does improve its efficiency.

does the bubble trap take up much space? Because my skimmer pump is very close to my fuge pump and might not beable to squeeze in there.

If I remember correctly, it's about an inch or two in width (it's almost exactly the width of a maxi-jet 1200) - length is about 6-7 inches or so though don't hold me to that since I'm going off memory.

IMO it doesn't help much with the microbubbles. The pad that comes with it does not stop all the bubbles and if you add filter floss it will overflow the box itself and dump bubbles into the aquarium.

i have hob remora, it shoots out micorbublles and i had layer of scum covering the surface. i purchased the filter box and was not satisified with its purpose. if you do not have auto top off the skimmerbox can run dry and not work effectively if the water level is too high. Mounting it wasn't easy either. I called the company who sent me suction cups to hold box against tank. as the original screws are meant to secure the pump inside to the box. currently the box has been controlling my microbubbles but not eliminating them. I don't have auto top offf so i added more slits to the top of the box and took the screws out to keep my pump from running dry. i would not recommend this box. have someone make one for the return only and i am gong to mod intake with elbow and have slitted pvc tubing near the surcace to try and control my surface scum. overall not satisfied with the minimal amount of skimmate that is pulled daily on mod load 50g

Do you know of another solution to this problem I have? I want to explore all my options. As it look I might not hve room for the bubble trap anyway.

Is the skimmer new? I have occational bubbles from time to time, but during the 'break-in' process it was much much worse.

i have the hob remora as well. i bought the pre-filter and it cut them down to nill. i have no problems with my box...ahem, remora box. i do however have a problem with the company selling these very pricey contraptions that are bubble factories. then they make us buy additional equip. oh well.

i've read of people using lr in the chamber if the sponge doesn't work for you. i've still got the sponge and some floss in mine and it works just fine.

Do you have auto top off? Because I don't and I see that can be a problem as evaporation kicks in.

The box comes with the sponge but what is this floss you guys are talkinga bout? does the box work with out the floss?

I have a HOB Remora Pro with the skimmer box, had it about five months. While it produced micro bubbles for maybe the first two weeks, the only time I've had them since was after I gave the unit a thorough cleaning.

The only problem I've had was a couple of two weeks ago, when it started bubbling like crazy. I had cleaned the injector the night before and then found a dead snail in the skimmer box.

When I got the skimmer box, I was concerned about the length of the slots until my water level dropped below them but there was still water in the box. Turns out they don't glue the bottom between the two compartments by design to keep the pump from running dry.
