Phosphate reactors

Can you put both phosphate remover and carbon in one reactor or do you need to use 2 separate reactors?

Are these any good?

Any particular brands that are highly recommended?

Since switching to my own person ro/di instead of hauling water from the LFS my nitrates have gone down to 0 but a lot more algae is growing in my tank. That's why I was thinking about adding the reactor. The carbon I want to add b/c it's a mixed reef.

Sure can. I place my rowa phos in first and then the carbon ontop. FWIW I use the carbon pellets, not the granuals. The rowaphos does find it's way to the top through carbon, so would be fine to place the rowa phos on top of the carbon. Only issue is rowa phos will not be exhuasted for over 2 to 3 months, while the carbon is exhausted at a much faster rate. Just keep an eye on the flow through the reactor, when the rate is decreased signifigantly, place the rowa phos and carbon mixture in some of your offed (used) water change water, stir around, dump the water off, then place back into the reactor. This will give you another few weeks plus of life.
