150g phosban vs 1ppm Phosphate in 100 gallons.
Will 150g of phosban be able to remove 1ppm of phosphate in a 100 gallon system? I am using it in a phosban reactor. How many days should I wait to replace the phosban if the phosphates have not dropped to a reasonable level?
BTW.. If you are wondering why my phosphate is 1ppm... I was using the Red Sea phosphate test kit. It was registering zero phosphate. I have been trying to figure out for 7 months why I have some hair algae growing and my sps frags are not growing. I switched to salifert phosphate test kitm and got my answer.. 1 ppm phosphate!! Avoid Red Sea test kits, I have also had big problems with their calcium test kit. |

you don't want to lower your phos too quickly. I would use less than what is recommended. Also, the salifert kits aren't too accurate either. Even if it registers 0 on a phos, you mostly likely still have phos in the tank. Also, becareful, cuz GFO will lower your alk too

there are only a few that are accurate. Hanna, Hach, and one more i can't think of the name right now. However they don't cost the same as your run of the mill tester. Your looking to spend about 180 on a new hanna and more for the Hach i believe.
