heater preferance
So I guess I am in the market for a new heater. I did a search for heater and set "any date" and came up with nothing! What are people using for heaters and what should I stay away from? To be honest, I haven't shopped for a heater for years! Its for a 55 gallon so I'm thinking of running 2 X 75 watt heaters and thinking titanium. What do you guys think?

Every one is going to have their own opinions on heaters. I personally think most "hobby" heaters are ok IF you dont trust the built in thermostats. A temp controller might seem like big investment ($80 or so), but if a $15 heater malfunctions and kills your tank, where's the savings?
I would agree that 2 smaller heaters are better than one big 'un. At least if one fails, you are not totally S.O.L.

I would highly recommend they Hydor "unbreakable" glass heaters, or the Eheim Jaeger heaters, in that order. The titaniums on the market can be unreliable at times, and I would not use one without a solid external controller. HTH
