ditto. Chromis get a lot bigger than you may think, and they're pretty active. Plus, one may end up dead since they like to establish a pecking order in which one or 2 usually end up dead from being harassed by the bigger ones.

I'm completely new and last week I went to purchase fish for tank. LFS said they would be ok wth the skunk clown .The 4 chromis were not quite inch long and in day and halph they were not to be found. He told me when i told him what happened that maybe skunk killed them. I can't get skunk out unless tear tank apart. so tried 2 scromis same size as skunk seems better. would like to have couple more fish thought chromis would be thie thing to go with.

LFS are notoriously wrong. Now weather they are doing this intentionally in hopes of more money coming in, or from pure ignorance of the hobby, who can say. But odds are it's one of these two options.
Your best bet would be to get that clownfish a mate, they'll do better in pairs anyways. And then maybe a couple SMALL peacefull fish. And by small i'm refering to the size the fish will get ultimately, not just a smaller specimen. Many fish you'll find at the LFS, Petsmart, Petco, Ect ect. get far too large for the average tank, but since there easy to aquire and may of these places tailor to the uneducated customer they continue to sell em. Another aspect to chromis, they'll actually do better if kept in odd numbers. Having 3 or 5 is going to be better than having 4 or 6. Maybe some neon gobies or even the sharknose gobies, rainford gobies, small fish like that. You could probably keep 3 or 4 neons in that tank with the clowns with no problems. As long as they are getting enough foods. But they stay small, under 2", cheap, short life spans though (about a year). Just some thoughts for ya.

I've been through your home town many times . Thanks for your input I think LFS is into the $ part as most of them are . I was in another LFS in Burlington VT. $80 bucks for 5 gal pail reef crystals and they wonder why we buy off internet. Ihave spent over $1200 on seting up my 75 gal and this 25 I'm going to make my own RO/di water. all from Dr. Forsster & smith. Going to buy live rock from Tampa bay for the 75. On road 4-5 days a week but going to try it my wife is here to feed and keep eye on things.
