And MJ mod creates a prop pump out of a maxijet. You end up with Tunze style, wide, dispersed flow for little money.
I am ordering two koralias because i like that you can aim them. The problem IMO with the MJmod is that you can't aim them too easily.

FWIW - we had two MJmods and they were aweful. Noisey (vibration). We replaced them with two K3's. They are awesome.

I bought just one koralia.. got it like a hour ago.. i really like it.. don't see what the big deal with it being so big.. altho it doesn't look all that big to me.. I have a 29 gal with a torch, hammer, toadstool, xenias, flowerpot, and cabbage.. i'm also running a maxijet 900 everything seems okie.. except the hammer.. ive tried re arranging the powerheads and re arranging the coral seems nothing is helping.. thats my only issue with it so far.. otherwise.. these seem like real good pumps for as much as i can tell.. when i hooked it up.. i actually thought the thing wasn't working.

I have a K1 in my 29gal with a Penguin 350 (350gph) and a AquaC with MJ1200 and I was actually thinking about picking up 2 more K2's in addition to what I have.. the K1 moves water, but I feel like I need more.

I think they're great pumps, I have two 3's in my 29g and no problem. Just keep playing with the flow and you'll get it right!

May not have been balanced. Mine are pretty quiet, for me its the skimmer and return pump that create all the hum. I purchased the medium flow mod with the smaller propeller rated for ~1400gal/hr. I also used the 3 sucktion cup mount, I guess that would help dampen the noise. When these finally kick the bucket I'll try some koralia 4's.

Dude, not to be rude, but there is no way that 2 #1s are too much for a 29. I put 2 #1s in my 36, and no matter how I positioned them I couldn't get enough flow. There were virtually stagnant areas in the tank with both running. Not anywhere near enough flow. I think 2 #3s would be perfect, but have yet to try it for myself. One MJ1200 makes at least 2x the flow of both of the #1s together. I know the gph is way lower, but if I run the two #1s all day, and then turn on one MJ1200 all sorts of settled crap gets stirred up and the softies start swaying. With both #1s on food and detritus will NOT be kept in the water column and your fish won't be having as much fun. I was very dissappointed with their 400 gph rating. Sure, its probably 400gph, but its so slow and diffuse it doesn't stir up anything in the tank. JMO.

Aimforever check the title of this post...it's two #2's that i thought were too much, I've sent them back and am awaiting two #1's to take their place.

ohh.... ooops sorry. That makes a little more sense, my mistake. I am suprised that 2 #2s were too much. Did you get your new #1s yet? I am afraid you might not be getting enough flow with them, but everyone has their own preferences. Now I'm not sure about getting 2 #3s for my tank... maybe the #2s would suffice after all. Hmmm..

I wish I would have caught that sooner, we could have arranged some sort of trade. Anyhow, best of luck with the new Koralias.

Nope, they are due in Wednesday. I hope I like them. The thing is with a small tank like a 29g there's only so much rearranging you can do and I have my corals pretty much where i want them and where they're happy and need to find a pump that fits their placement, not where i have to place them to fit the pump. Regardless I believe two #1's will be better then the two MJ900's (230gph) that I have currently.

everyone has a different feeling of how much flow a tank needs... and depending on coral types and the biome reproduction you hope to achieve- a different # of pumps and sizes can be used effectively on the same system. thats why they make different sizes and you can use as many or as few as you want.

For those of you who needs small pumps for nano tanks, I was at Hydor local office picking up some parts, and saw a prototype of a nano K pump about 3" in total length, about the size of a AAA egg, rated 3.5W and 260gph if I remember correctly. I could be a little off on the flow rate.
