Booby trapped zoa!

Just got my first zoa's today, and after reading about the toxin's I decided to use tongs to hold it while dipping/cleaning.
The LR frag mount popped in half, and popped off.
My first instinct was to catch it, but I'm glad I didn't. cause half the frag mount was a BROKEN BEER BOTTLE covered in coraline!
Imagine a glass cut coupled w/ zoa toxin!
Nasty boo boo!

Yeah, I was reading up on all the bads, that's why I used the tongs.
I read toxin is most potent while dipping/disturbed, which is what I was doing.

Cause it would be funny to point out the pollution in your own tank.... "Look, my tank is just like the ocean", or the person that did it was a jerk.

I'm going with the latter on this one.

BTW, I can't touch the zoa in my tanks because my hands go numb and swell. Then the next day the skin cracks, bleeds, and peels off. Pretty picture, eh?

It actually looks like a piece of rock and glass was encrusted w/ coraline and fused together.
I hope that happened by freak accident.
I'd hate to think someone did this on purpose, but you never know.

Yeah, but have you cut yourself while handling one?
Especially while dipping which I read stresses them and makes them release more toxin.

LOL
I have handled zoos before with cuts on my hands. Dipping them/fragging them. I always have cuts on my hands. I just started to wear gloves cause I had a reaction form something in my tank. Something bit me or it was a fire worm or something. I have never had a reaction from zoos. It can definitely happen though.

LOL!
PaulB was the first person that came to mind!
Thanks MTB, I'm also a carpenter, so yeah, always some kinda cut/splinter, something.
I was curious about handling zoa's because of this.
You see a few harsh stories, don't want to be one of them!

The stories sure are nerve racking. I try to be careful but it seems the more careful I try to be something goes wrong.
Better safe than sorry!

^ The glass bottles do look kinda cool...a lot more life-like when compared to the reefs that I have seen! Very Pirate type look! Haha! I don't like the Budweiser who...
