Feather duster on snail-- healthy relationship?

I just noticed a sturdy-looking feather duster actually attached to one of my bigger Astrea snails (sorry, can't provide a pic). It looks funny, and I suppose its great for the worm. But is this a dysfunctional relationship? Should I pluck the worm?

Nah, just leave it. I've got that on lots of my snails...and i've seen it on even more hermit crabs because a lot of times hermits just pick up a shell that has been sitting in one spot for a long time, giving the worm time to grow on it.

It wont hurt anything

Thanks. Until I get more life in the tank, I'll continue to obsess over even the snails!
