To maintain electric pink, red, or blue colors, do I need a 250 mh light?
Hi,
I currently have an aqualight pro. 150w MH, 2 65 watt pc's+ 2 28 watt pc's I retrofitted. I would really like to purchase an electric pink Millepora, a Red Digi, and a Blue tort or Blue mille. A beautiful SPS blue coral. Not sure exactly if I have to choose. My question is, will my 150w mh light be able to maintain those colors? Or would I need a 250w mh light? My main display tank is a 40 gallon breeder. I have an old 250w Mh light laying around. The thing is, it gets too hot! It's a screw end bulb and a PFO pendant. Just wondering if I'd be able to keep those corals with the lighting I have now? Or if I should stick my other pendant on there? Or, if there is a different 250w mh light that will not burn so hot? Please let me know. TY very much. Gina

Id say the 250w will add more heat but will be better for the corals. Color will depend on what K rating you go with. Are you doing anything for cal, alk and mag?

I do my water changes and my cal and alk stay almost the same. I dont have many corals to deplete the cal. I do have one clam, but the cal doesn't deplete much. I use salifert tests. When it starts depleting a little more, I am going with B-Ionic
