Taking care of a tank is somewhere between a football play and ballet...a series of choreographed moves made a little easier by completely dedicated equipment [nothing borrowed from the kitchen or garden] and occasionally, when learning a really complex big system, a checklist. Topoff accidents are a case in point---forgetting to unplug the topoff when draining water from the sump, forgetting to plug it in again when you go on vacation; remembering too late you need a checkvalve when you have a hose in your tank that's higher than the pump in your bucket...oh, very, very many of us have bailed and mopped.
