cool aquascape Steve. How much rock did you order and how did you glue the fiber glass rods to the plastic base? I am thinking of ordering from Marco for my 75 gallon tank...just not sure if I should order 50lbs or will 25 lbs do....I already have about 20 lbs of dead rock. Thanks for the help

i drilled the acrylic rods into the rock and then into the 3/8 '' sheet. secured with alittle silicone-ive seen others use epoxy too. I just didnt want the rock able to fall over.

I ordered 50 lbs for a 90g but I have about 25 lbs of fiji rock from my other tank.

I really like the rock and dont think youd be unsatisified ordering from Marc. may be you should contact him about possibly ordering 35-40 lbs instead of a full 50 if you feel 50 is too much...worth a shot.

I purchased 100 pounds of rock from marco rocks and am very pleased with what was delivered. Because the rock is so porous I received a lot more than I expected. I did need to soak it for a day and then cure it just as I would uncured LR. I stuck it in a bucket in the garage filled with water with a pump running 24 hours a day for about 5 days. At the end of the 5th day most of the smell was gone and I was able to add it to my tank.

So how much rock should I get from this guy for a 55g aquarium if I want to fill it up fairly good? As in 25 lbs of Fiji base and 25 lbs of Tonga base will fill up my aquarium fairly decent?

They had no rubble listed so I e-mail Marc asking when they would have some. He quickly responded and said he would get me some in a day or two. Two days later he notified me and I ordered the rock.

It has arrived and I am very happy. It is much more than it seems being dry, very light and perfect for my needs. A nice range of sizes to use for filtration, frags and evcen a few for the display etc...

I thank Marc for his service on such a small and inexpensive order. I will be using Marc exclusively for all of my rock from now on.

Do you plan on getting Live Rock also? I have often read that you should have 1.5 to 2 lbs of rock. Now Marco Rocks are very porous and you will get more than you expect. I would suggest you start with 25 lbs of Live Rock, 25 lbs of fiji, and I would ask Mark for suggestions on the Tonga in regards to how much will be required. It will depend on your aquascaping. You see the tonga are flat pieces that you will use to create shelfs to sit corals on and also to create caves and tunnels. I would get the 25 lbs of tonga and if there are too many pieces of it you can break them and use as rubble. After you put the 75 lbs of rock in your tank you can look to see if more is required, but that is a start.

I plan on using some live rock, but was hoping to "seed" the base rock, how long it takes to seed doesn't bother me. I honestly don't know how i'll be arranging yet, eventually I want to get enuf rock to have a Scooter Blenny, but I know thats 1 1/2 to 2 years away at the least.

I think I'll seed just by putting in some established LR on the top... Maybe a cup of sand in the sump. And when in the tank during setup, I may start adding bacteria (ie Purist or ultralith system).
