Tunze Protein Skimmer

Hi All:

I have just downsized / yes downsized from a 150GAl Plexi to a 90 Gal bowfront. still using some of the old equipment from the 150 ie lights chiller and such-- here is my one issue. since dowsizing I am unable to use my G2 Skimmer and then most G's wont fit in the refugieum in the cabinet, so I sprung for the Tunze.

Has anyone else out there used a Tunze Skimmer and can provide some usable knowledge on proper set-up and tuning?

Help a bro out.

I have used several tunze skimmers. They are pretty much plug and play except for the air adjustment. Roger in the tunze forum could help you too..

That is the beautiful thing about Tunze skimmers, tuning is minimal. Start with the screw open three turns and adjust one quarter turn at a time and then leave it alone.

I have had the DOC Skimmer 9010 in my 92G Corner tank for about 6 months now with no serious issues. My only complaint is that it at least seems to me that once the collection cup gets dirty with an inch or so of skimmate (3 or 4 days), that skim production slows way down. This means having to clean it at that point or else I get little or no more skim. That's probably as designed but it's a little irritating.

Tunze

Alan- since you have one, let me know this, when I had a G2 on the 150- there were days when there would no skimming at all until I did possible a heavy feeding of frozen food; now with the 9015 there is always something in the skimmer cup, is is possible that I got a skimmer to powerful for a 90GAl-

90 GAL bowfront
2x 250 HQI mh lighting
2X VHO atinic
3 med yellow Tang
1 False perc
1 med blue Chromis
1 med Blue Jaw
1 Med ****** trigger
1 Huge pink tail trigger
1 med alergy goby
mushrooms and stuff
