Are these lights ok for sps?

i have 2 of these fixtures on my 75 gallon.

one fixture has 2 of the 11k bulbs, the other is 1 pure actinic and 1 actinic+. is this lighting ok to try some sps? thanks

i dont think it would be enough for sps, i would think maybe mushrooms and other lower light corals. maybe if you out them right near the top but still i dont think it would be enough.

oops sorry, you have two of the fixtures. so 4 bulbs?

is it b/c only 2 bulbs are 11k? these are HO, are others not keeping sps under HO T5's?

not sure about the 4 bulbs, i dont remember if the actinics provide a lot of the light required or if it was for aesthetics? check out the sps keepers section on the forum

i think it will be fine as long as they are near the top like 4-5 max inches down other then that a good set of bulb will also help i recommend ATI

Those geismann's will work fine they are very good bulb's. It sounds like a decent setup. The light you bought were fairly expensive you could have got a 6x54w tek fixture that would have been perfect for your tank for cheaper, but you already have the lights so just keep your sps in the middle to top of your tank and you'll be good. The light combination sounds fine, but it may be kinda white or yellow, i like my tank a bit bluer personally.

thanks. i bought the lights last august, and they were a lot cheper then, i think $149 each.
