Anybody used the Hydor Koralia Pumps
A friend of mine has two VorTech Propeller Pumps in her tank and I am thinking of getting the Hydor Koralia Pump. The Vortech kicks A** but cost big money. It creats crazy movement in the tank.As it pulls water and pushes. The thing that looks cool about the Hydor is it is articulating. Let me hear about your experience with either! Thanks

I have 2 of the number 4's. I have them on opposite ends of my 200. Obviously, they are not near a strong as the vortech pumps. But for me for 110 bux for two of them. I'm pretty happy with these. The only negative is the size. they are a little big, but again I can deal with it for now.

Just bought a #4 for a 55gal. I was a little worried about a sandstorm but was very surprised at the flow. No sand storm and great flow.

Yeah, they aren't really in the same league as the vortech, but they are good pumps. I bought 3 HK 3s and all of them work perfectly.

I have two 4's in my 120 and both together aren't as strong as one mj1200 modded. Yes I know, everyone is going to tell me it's a different type of flow but at the end of the day they just don't move as much water. Sure I'm glad I bought th HK, but I am seriously considering adding one of me mj. One more thing. I wouldn't recommend anything less then 4's to anyone. They just don't move that much water to me.

I've only seen them in action but i'm fairly impressed.... obviously vortec takes the cake in power, but these are probably better in economic sense...

I just put Two #3 Hydor's in my 72 gal. I am very happy with the flow. For the money you cant beat the Hydor Koralia's.

I have two Koralia 3's and 2 Tunze Nano 6025's right now. My tank is still in the works as far as adding critters but the fish sure know the water is moving around. I also have about 1000 GPH return from main pump. The Koralias work great. The 4's have noticeably more flow than the 3's but they are also noticeably bigger.

We tried a #4 in our prop systems. Moved it around to different tanks and positions. All the tanks are 15" deep maximum and to be honest I see no value in the system. The way the water is delivered it seems it comes out of four places of the center cap. All shooting in four different directions and almost nothing forward. So what I get is blasted sand on either side of the bottom and surface agitation on the top, both sides.

Interesting. I pour my 2 part additions in front of one of the Koralia 3's. It blows the cloudiness caused by the alk addition forward and disperses it in a wide distribution. But the key point is that it blows it in a forward direction so I dont see how there is no forward dispersion, I literally can see it.

For some reason I think my 2 #4's move water differently. One works more like SteveU's, out of four places giving lots of surface agitation. My other one seems to have more forward thrust. Right now the're ready for some heavy cleaning. Maybe when I do that I'll check to see if I see any differences between the two pumps.
