MH and T5, please explain

Ok, so I got 4 48" T5 retro's.

I am new to T5's and MH.

Done some research, but I am still confused.

It would be fantastic if someone could explain in simple terms the following:

1 What is the difference between double ended and single ended in output?

2 My tank is 48" long, 24" deep, 24" high. Would 4 T5's and one 250Mh in the middle bring the nice shimmer in the tank evenly (using a good reflector, please recommend one!)? Or should i use 2 150Watt mh on each side?

3 Is 4 T'5 sufficient (they got reflectors)?

4 What are the different MH bulbs out there? I hear about 10k's etc. Very confusing.

Any advice would be enormously appreciated, since I can only do a search at night for information. Thanks a lot!!!!
