Cure For Red Turf Algae

Mexican turbo snails work great but they are a pain in the a**. Is there a way to cure this or is it one of those things that has to run it course?

Sally light foot crabs look scary! Thanks I will look in to that. Have you used one of them for this problem before?

Eliz,

sally light foots are aggressive algae eaters and feed constantly. a friend had a algae problem in his 240g and 10 of them cleaned it in less than a week. hermit crabs do the job also but are very slow compared to sally light foots. Urchins are algae eaters but very slow also.

Lawnmover blenny and I've seen my emerald crab munching on it.

Have not eradicated, but it has been kept under control

Why you don't like the Mexican turbo snails Eliz?

Without being big they do a great job.

Well my tank is small for one. I use to have some but this is what happened. I order some that I thought was going to be small( about 1 inch). Ended up with 5 grown and huge turbos!!! Well they were all stuck together in the bag and two had died during shipping which I figured out later when my tank turned cloudy and had a ammonia spike. So I had three which was too much for this little tank anyway, but did a GREAT job. So two weeks ago an accident happened (long story) and the turbos stopped moving. I kept an eye on them to sure they were alive. Came home one day after being going for 12 hours. Guess what! Cloudy water, ammonia spike, hermits eating 3 dead snails! So I am not a turbo hater (LOL), I was wondering if this was just going to go way or if I need to find maybe one small turbo!
O and they knock over everything!

Long story for one quetions! LOL
