With no attnics I would go with a 12K or 15K depending on ballast. What are you going to run?

im not sure on the ballast.a friend just told me he had a spare 175 ballast i could have.he did say its a p.o.s. if that helps lol.this kind of a fast build but i have to do it now.i can upgrade to an icecap at a later date.my main goal is getting the tank up and runnung for now.
BTW timmye im the guy who made the OM clone you asked about in the DIY forum ![]()

I have five clams, 2 maximas and 3 trins. I have never had a problem with hamilton 14000K they grow great. i would stay away from XM. look at there spectrum after 3 months and they have a big drop off where the hamiltons don't. and mine are 175w also

barry at clamsdiret.com keep his under 20K but be ready for the blue color of the tank, many people don't like the 20k since it is only pure blue and makes the tank look really goofy with having the pure blue comming from it

Get the Iwasaki 15k. It has great color, and par values that rival 250's.

I would also choose a 14 or 15 K XM bulb.

Iwasaki 15k...Do the research and its the best choice if you wish to keep clams without supplementation.

I have two small maximu clams and they are doing great under two Coral Life 150w 14ks. Stay in the 14 to 15k range if you are not using actinics.
