Depends how deep you want the sandbed to be. If it were me, I'd do an inch or less. You can always use dry sand and let the live rock seed it. It will become live over time. Or, get a cup of a fellow reefers sand to seed it as well. Use this calculator to help calculate the proper amount.

40-50 pounds of sand, 40-60 pounds of rock and a skimmer should do ya.

About same as LR , 1.0 to 1.5 lbs per gallon. I always max out. Mb almost twice as much for DSB but cant understand why that can be good after time. But FOWLR better bare bottom. With SB you need cleanup crew and sand sifters and before you know it theres a softy in your tank.

I would look at adding dry sand, and seeding it with LS from a local reefer, or LFS. As far as depth it's kinda personal preference. you could do a DSB in your refugium (if you will have one) and a 2" SB in the display.

If you just want an inch or so of sand for looks, no live sand is really needed. The bagged live sand products are useless, anyway, in my opinion, since they don't have much in the way of animals.

plus what is really going to survive in a bag, with shipping across the country? LS from a established Reef is your best bet.
