Whats a good pump to use for doing the NW? Or just keep the stock pump? I wonder would adding that Pimp my AC would work on this, that thing produced a insane amount of bubles...

Does anyone think that bottle necking the skimmer cup would increase skimmer production. I notice on skimmers such as the css 220 that as the foam goes up it narrows. The ps160 does not do that its the same diameter from beginning to end. Would modding help at all?

I wish someone lived around me so they could come check this baby out. Its tough when there aren't any reefers around here!

And I don't want to hear the you must have a huge bioload. I don't. I have a few softies, a 3.5" rock beauty angel, a 2" blue tang, a cleaner wrasse(tiny), valentini puffer, lawnmower blenny.....cleaner shrimp and a few snails. Thats it. In a 125g tank. So the skimmer is just that cool! lol
Now thats just insane, How much is that skimmer?

via aquas are $100 at LFS. But most are mesh modded and it's ALOT larger footprint than a PS.

I sold a bunch of them for 45 for the sk200 and 55 for the sk388, but you can usually find them on ebay for around 60 and www.aquastealth.com for around 80-100. There's a guy selling a sk388 and a sk200 for under 60 on my via aqua club thread. But you do have to understand I've completly rebuilt the skimmer so your not going to get that sewage. You'll get around 1-3 cups a day of skimmate with a NW and removing the inner tube mod. And running it stock will handle a 65-75g tank no problem. (sk200) and the sk388 will work on a 100-1125g no prob. I'm pretty sure mine will handle a 225g or less with no probs.

Just mesh mod the stock one. Make sure you get more "RIGID" intake rubber tubing, and mesh mod it.

I've bought wp1000's 700's and 500's from ebay and aquatraders and haven't seen this. It may be all the new one's. It sure wouldn't surprise me as all the china products are turning into crap.

My PS160 has ceramic shaft, purchased last month from Aquatraders.

Anyhow, I am really getting frustrated with this piece. I have mesh modded the stock pump and needlewheel, removed inner tube, installed 3/4 elbow on the inlet. I also took that stock venturi that goes before the pump (you know... the garbage one with what look to be 4 airline inlets) and reamed out the air holes with a larger drill bit and attached 2 airlines to it.

This thing still has yet to pull an ounce of skimmate.

I am planning on building a new venturi. Anyone know what size the inlet to the stock pump is? What size tube should I use for air inlet? I seem to remember someone saying they used a 1/4 inch barb and airline.

-J

I used a 1/2" pvc male fitting and drilled a 1/4" hole in it right at where the threads meet the pvc adapter. the skimmer went from around 3-5scfh to 15. Made a HUUUUGE difference. After that its pretty much the same as a octo 150.

Hey luke, do you have an airflow meter or are you just guessing the air intake. If you have one where did you get it, if you don't, do you know where i could get one? Thanks
