Any ideas for keeping colt corals?

Just got a couple colts and I want to make sure they do well. Any pointers?

Colt Coral is considered a pest by some people. It grows so quickly and spreads so fast it can irritate a lot of other corals.

Really it's not demanding at all. Low light with low-high flow (I've seen them in all flow conditions do well).

Great thing is you can sometimes take frags of it and trade it to other reefers for their frags or in to a LFS. I get $2 for ever frag I bring in! That adds up.

I suspect CoralCaps has confused capnella for a colt coral , they do look similar.

Capnella bud off babies that can spread like weeds, Colt on the other hand need to be manually fragged and are actually difficult to propagate. That's because the tissue tears easily and they're hard to mount.

Both corals however need similar environments. Medium flow and medium light. If you have MH lighting you probably don't want it at the top of your tank,With fluoro lighting it can be pretty much anywhere that receives direct light. Same with flow, anywhere except for directly in front of direct laminar flow.

You are correct. Minor brain fart.

Thanks for the correction.
