lime green

im new to the hobbie and are in the cycling stage for my tank and in the last few days i noticed my rock starting to turn a lime greenish color.even the purple that was on the rock has starded to change . i generaly have my lights on from 9am to 9pm .could that be why ? is this normal? how do i fix it ? is there poor water circulation? what is going on am i in trouble? hellp!!!!!!

I'd lessen the duration of lights and do water changes. Most likely one of many algal blooms you will see. Hang tough, keep up good husbandry and GO SLOWLY.

if the lime green is very hard and pebbly it is another form of corraline aglae--good for the tank

Is the green algea hard and pebbly like Captn' said?

How long has it been set up?Im asking because i wouldnt recomend a WC until after your params spike,& fall.

its been going for 2 weeks and days i checked the water the other day calcium was good so was alkalinity salt levels were good nitrate is going up but i think thats just the cycling process im sure they will droop.i have a mushroom coral tha was stuck on a piece of live rock and its doing fine shrimp, hermits and pods running around i dont plan to do a water change for atleast until the first month is up

thats what you'll get in a new system. just let it do its thing. youll get all sorts of greens browns and reds before it becomes mature.mine started with brown that gave way to green hair algae which was eaten and then the red slime came. with good flow and going slow it will all work out

as long as the rock is curing its going to be releasing dead stuff that can change to phosphates. Phosphates fuel algae. As the rock cures more and more the phoshates produced get less and the algae starves to death and disappears.
This is all part of the cycling process.
