I bought a used A150-F2001, that the pump will not spin up, to me it sounds like the impeller has to much play and is contacting the side, then not spinning. I can only find the new impeller and the new pump. have you guys seen this and able to recommend what I need to fix it? It seems like the rubber stoppers at the ends of the impeller might be what holds it in place, but I did not see anywhere to purchase those.
also a second question, I am starting to see a crack running from the top return of the recirculating skimmer and the main cylinder (looks like the weld joint on the grey plastic portion) is it possible to use acrylic weld to fix this crack as it's starting to leak water. Thanks for any help, |

I have an A110-F2000 that I intended to use in a 90G mixed reef. I'm now considering trading in my NIB 90G in on a 120G. Would the A110 do the job on a 120G w/40G sump with a light-to-medium fish load? I wouldn't mind upgrading to the A150 late on, but it would be 6 or more months away. If the A110 not no sufficient on the 120G at all, then I will just keep the 90G display and forget the 120. Thoughts?

regular impeller or meshed impeller you will still love how H&S skimmers work! I have had a chance to play with a lot of skimmers during the hobby and H&S get's my 10/10 rating! Yeah it is not build with fancy red and white PVC parts, who cares, it rocks and in case the pump dies on you, it will not cost you a fortune to replace!

Do you think the design of the H&S impeller is at fault? It might not have been meant for mesh as it was a needlewheel to begin with. What about Euroreefs or ATB's that use the mesh mod on their 1260's? I have yet to see any problems caused by the mesh on other Eheims.

The mesh moded impellers don't last to long at all, if they don't get out of balance they get full of crap and stop skimming as good . They very good when first is installed . Did you see the BK mesh moded impeller ? is made out of some kind of metal but is only in RD stages now . The mesh moded impellers work wonders for sort term but they have there drawbacks. Everyone is working hard to find a good way for the mesh moded impeller to work .......they getting closer . How do you like your ATB medium skimmer? Is it mesh moded impeller ? I'm in the club once again. I had an A110 but decided it would not be big enough for my use before it was ever plugged in. So, I traded it and now have an A150 on its way. This will go on my 120G reef which will have about 150G total water volume.
I hope to post some wicked skimmate pictures in the neat future |
