I have a External Skimmer A200-1260 for my 120 gallon tank. Gotta love those huge eheim pumps!

i already got it. they also redesigned their NW impellers and they look alike like the European ones where the pins on top are covered by another disk to protect from dirt and breaking. So far I am impressed.

What new impellers are you referring to? Available from H&S or elsewhere?
thanks, Mike

Thanks Albfelix. Is it a better performing one, or just more strongly made?
Mike

Quality build is the same it is just the design that is different. Too early to judge if it is performing better.

Looks like no one answered your question. Your skimmer is set too low. I would raise the bubble breaking level about 2" and leave it there for a few days to see how it behaves. Of course, I could be wrong, so sometimes best to ask the dealer who you purchased from or ask Fins Reef.

Are you sure you received the correct impeller for USA? I read about a mistake impeller being sent to a few people that sounds exactly like yours.

No they have redesigned the impellers for the external models they look similar to the European models. We confirmed this with H&S Germany before any were shipped.

Eric any chance of showing us some pics of the newly designed needlewheel? I was thinking of pickign up a backup for my A200-1260. Is there any performance improvement with the new pinwheel? Thanks

Scott

No not at all. What got in the impeller and caused that damage?

okay guys help me out. I've been trying to get my skimmer up and running but I think I'm missing a part. I ordered the hose barb from finsreef but I think I'm missing the part in goes into. I do have a o-ring that is not in the picture. if anyone knows what part I'm missing, can you please take a picture of yours and post it up here for me.
thanks

Eric,

Nothing got into the pump that destroyed the impeller. If you look closely, I mesh moded the impeller and cut off all the pinwheels. The un-uniform form of mesh caused the imeller to spin not balanced at very high RPMs causing to grind with pump body. Pump was running warmer also and thank God I checked on time. The new redesigned impeller is doing some magic!

I think I have the right barb, I'm just missing that piece that the barb slips into. its the part that the union fitting tightens down on.

A200-2x1260

so i think i'm about to pick up one that's been used for 5months.
i was wondering what pump everyone uses to feed this skimmer.

how many gallons per hour should i run through it?

also, is this enough for a 225gal tank w/100gal sump(75gal of water) heavily stocked?

i'm going to run in inside my sump. does it matter how high my water lvl is inside the sump?

is the A250 a lot better w/the 10" body?

I am the newest member of the H&S Club! I am the proud owner of a 110-F2000. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my sump so I can fire up this baby. I've informed all the hair algae that their days are over!

Does H&S rate their skimmers conservatively?

Would a A-200 work well in a heavily stocked fish-only 450 gallon display tank?

If I do my conversion from liters to gallons properly, I believe it is rated for a 581 gallon tank.
