Would these test results be reasonable?

Very early in the process, with everything in the tank to be exact.

The details: 90g tank + 50G sump/fuge, 90lb cured live rock (bought cured), 120lb LS total. Water is RO/DI. API test kit (and yes Ca, Mg, and Alk kits are enroute (these are Salifert) and Salinity and Temp are Pinpoint units.

Trying to rap my head around these. I don't get the higher nitrate levels considering never much ammonia and never any nitrite.

Thanks
Branden

I think you missed posting the goodies--what are the test results you were asking about

ok first attempt was messed up to I will try again

Salinity: 1.024, 1.0245, 1.024, 1.024, 1.024
pH: 8.0, 8.2, 8.0, 8.2
Ammonia: 0.5, 0.25, 0.25, 0 or 0.25
Nitrite: all zeros
Nitrate: 5-10, 0-5, 20, and 0 or 20

The areas where there is an "or" is because depending on where I read it, there is a different color.

Thanks
Branden

good for early stages of cycling
the ammonia should drop to zero soon and the nitrates following soon after

don't even worry about the pH --it will flucuate until the tank has cycled.

your salinity is ok for now--but the norm of suggested rate on RC is 1.026

Thanks, I thought 1.026 was what people suggested on here but looking (and really just window shopping at the moment) most specs on fish max at 1.025.

However, salinity is the one thing I know how to change, lol! I suppose I could start that process now.

Just add some salt water with your top ups for the next few times

Hmmmm.....Capn...Adding some saltwater to his top offs will raise the salinity...but 1.024 is not bad. Thats what I target for ...Tell me what I'm missing

1.026x (35ppt) is natural seawater, so that's what most people aim for and thus the recommendation on RC.
