Turbo Snails

when moving Turbo's back to where a person wants them to mow.. is there a proper way to detach them. I always twist them and they let go but is this hurting them ?

I think this would be a bit useless. What's to keep them from just moving from where you put them? They'll find the algae on their own and in their own time, if that's what they're hungry for.

the reason I ask this is that I have had a few losses in my turbo snails as of late and was wondering if it was to do with my handling of them that was the cause.

I gently push them sideways across the glass until they let go. I also have a problem of turbos slacking on the hair algae. As for moving them, I find that several of my snails tend to stick to one area regardless of how much algae is there, so I move them sometimes. The fact that my rockwork is made up of islands and shelves probably doesn't help. Astraea also don't have the highest survival rate as far as I can tell... they just don't seem to live that long. Ceriths do very well unless hermit crabs pick them off, nerites are tough and nassarius are near immortal.

Have you ever actually tried to pull a turbo straight off the glass. I twist mine, Lockeoak pushes theirs... my quesion I felt was pritty simple in trying to care for the snail in a proper fashion so as not so cause them any harm... and no it wasnt answerd.

My glass cleaning magnet knocks them right off the glass then I just move them where I want them.
