![]() ![]() This is a curious photo; the stripeys (black and yellow) are temperate to cool water, and the butterflys are tropical, yet they swim together over the corals. Very cool. ![]() ![]() ![]() Some very hungry looking Kingfish. This is why fish shouldn't be fed bread all the time. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

That's so awesome. Hopefully once I'm done with school and have some money, my boyfriend and I will be taking a trip to Australia. We went to hawaii a few years back and I couldn't get him in the water past his waist.
I told him that if we go he is being forced to go snokelling. You can't go to the Australia and not go snorkelling/diving at the Great Barrier. Thats almost as bad as our friend in Hawaii that keeps a black sheet over his windows. Anyways!! Great photos!

The second picture has a tree growing upside down. Or did the wind do that? ![]() The last one is a wrasse?! How big would you say it is? I love the stunning colors even through the rippled water. Thank you again for updating this thread often. |

Melev:
The lagoon shown in the 1st photo is a great spot, just watch for the sharks at night ![]() I never even noticed the tree upside down! Mustn't have been anything spectacular. That is indeed a wrasse in the last photo. It was about 40-50cm long, and quite thick. It is pretty amazing to see those colours through the water surface, they all caome to the beach and get fed bread twice a day. I'll put up the rest of the photos soon. If anyone ever has the chance to visit Lord Howe, i very strongly recommend you go! It's the southern most reef in the world, and has a unique biotope and mix of species. JokerGirl: You'll LOVE australia if you make it down here. Maybe that boyfriend of yours needs a push in the right direction ![]() The whole thing with people being afraid of the ocean or never going swimming is so strange to me. I practically grew up underwater, it's my second home down there. |

I feel that his fears of the ocean have actually been reinforced. When we came back, there was a report of a 14 year old surfer girl who lost her entire arm to a 14ft Tiger Shark. She lost it in the same bay that our hotel was on. It's such a shame too cuz the reef there was pretty nice. If we do go to Australia at some point, he is being forced into the water whether he likes it or not *evil grin* |

Gorgeous photographs. I snorkel in Turkish coastals of Aegean Sea but we are lack of color. You can see some very interesting and colorful fish but you need scuba. As Aegean Sea is between Asia and Europe, its also hard to find a place that is not touched.
By the way, I sent you a mail.
