Yep... no I hadn't dipped anything... but will definately be doing so from now on
![]() sheesh ![]() I don't plan on picking anything up anytime soon (famous last words). When I do, I'm not sure what type of dip I will employ... I need to do some research on the various methods... pros & cons.

Hey I have a quick question... When I took down the 55 I transfered almost everything into the 30g tank...
with the exception of 1 rock... This sucker is rather large, and has had algae on it from day 1. I scrub it, it gorws back 10 fold on it... so I had enough and dropped it in a bucket of bleach with an old junky powerhead the other day. Then I rinsed it with RO water, and it smelled horrible, so I bleached it again. Anyway the smell is gone now, its rinsed and in the garage. What are the odds of this harming something if I stick this in the QT tank to get it started on its path to becoming a good piece of LR again... or is it basically a door stop now ![]()

Thanks Scott I do teach somewhat... I'm one of the younger employees at my company, but am one of the few with actual Lean Manufacturing experience. My company relies heavily on Six Sigma, and is just now begin to explore Lean solutions. I'm hoping to eventually move into a global consultant type of role for the company, emphasizing on training and mentoring associates on projects. My experience with companies in general is they are reluctant to go outside for trainers. With your ability to teach, it makes you an even bigger assest to your company You will do well I am sure

he kinda mentions on his site what he does when he got a shipment in of Rics. he has mentioned that he should write down an all in one method for corals but has yet to do it. |

I think you have it placed on the substrate---is this where it always has been?

Yeah it's always been on the substrate.... I actually moved it back to the old spot before I target fed it. The spot I had moved it to temporarily is a spot I'm reserving for a large anenome
![]() I originally thought I would have to target feed it, but it looked great for about the first week, so I assumed it was getting the nutrients it needed. I'll just plan on this twice a week now. The cleaner shrimp hate the pop top though... they were on the outside trying to get the mysis through the plastic ![]()

Interesting line I read in the article:
They do not appear to be easily removed by "dips," poisons, or potential predators. Frankly, if they are found on corals in any tank, the best option would likely be to remove the coral from the tank, and simply dispose of it. ~R.Shimek I'm going to give it a few weeks in QT before I resort to that though.

Amy took that picture that is on my ID page, and it looks much more amazing compared to my own pictures. Mine look more like yours.
If you want to put all zoanthids in a quarantine tank for 3 to 6 months, you can. You'll be doing the exact same thing: looking for them and plucking them off. You might as well do that in your reef. |

But if you do it in your reef, isn't there a chance to leave tons of them that you miss, so you're never really safe from them? Do they eat other things than zoas? And is it a matter of just removing the food source so any left in the tank might starve? |

You keep looking diligently, you should be able to erradicate them. I've been on a very special worm hunt that last few nights in a row, and have caught a couple already. I just saw a huge one but it wasn't reachable. Hopefully that will change.
If one wants to get rid of these things, you could remove all zoanthids from your tank, but it would have to be all of them and for a very long time. Most people aren't able or willing to set up a secondary tank just to support their corals for 3 to 6 months away form their main tank. Dipping and scouring them visually is the best method. |
