How about a Kole or a Convict? What size tank are you upgrading to again?

yeah the Kole would be nice. The upgrade is not going to happen for a year.
So my concern would be 4 tangs in a 120gal (along with a foxface)
I have been lucky so far with no territorial issues between the three tangs and foxface I have.

I take back what I said earlier about the tomini not being a pretty fish
The ones in the LFS in my area are not in good health if you go by yours.
I simply won't pay full price for a fish that I have to nuture back to health in a qt tank.
I have done this countless times before with success but usually the LFS will discount the fish considerably.

If you can, It might be best to wait a year until you upgrade if you dont want to upset anyone.

can you post a pic so we can see if there is not a reason for it being skinny?

they are constant grazers so providing nori on clips or spirulina algae sticky tablets will allow him to eat constantly
Spirulina algae flakes soaked in garlic guard are excellent

Go to the asian section of the grocery store and pick up a few packs of sushi nori. I get the cheap pack... ~1.50 for 10 sheets.
Feed a 1/4 of a sheet daily on a clip if that is the only tang, if the fish doesnt take to it cut it into strips but still connected at the top for the clip to hold onto. Sort of like a phone booth ad. If it still doesnt take to it put a whole sheet in without folding it up so it waves a lot in the current. You want the fish to notice it.

I feed 1-2 whole sheets per day for 7 large tangs.

Did somebody say Kole tang? Here is mine.

Both of my tangs were finicky at first and took a few weeks to start eating on a regular basis.

Neither would touch algae on the clip in the beginning, so I took a piece of the seaweed algae, or nori and rubberbanded it to a rock.

I don't know what it was, but it seemed to work... maybe it looked more natural to them... beats me.

Anyway, they both are little pigs now and will eat just about whatever hits the water without reservation.

Is it common for the convict tang to have the nive dark black bands that Nick posted? I have seen most have a very pale almost gray banding.
