My LFS says I need to buy Bacteria "Cycle" and add when I do water Changes????

I have never heard of such things. Then he proposed the question "well what are you adding in when you are taking out.I said "RODI water. What else do I need?"Dude i'm not putting more junk in my tank or do I really need to.My PH was low and I have been adding buffer once every 2 weeks.

RO/DI water for top-off and a 10% water change every two weeks. An Alk/Calcium supplement routine if you have corals.
I you have the proper amount of live rock then you shouldn't need to add bacteria "cycle".

Negative on adding "Cycle".
And don't chase your PH around. It will fluctuate from light on to light off throughout the day.
Just keep that alk in check.

No. Just as easy to take a pinch of fishfood (micro pinch, a few flakes) and add it daily until you get an ammonia reading. Then stop, and wait for your tank to cycle.

Find another LFS. This one is questionable.

And don't do a water change until your cycle is over.

All good advice especially about rethinking your business to this LFS. I hate it when they try and push product that is totally unnecessary.

I've used Cycle in my freshwater aquariums for ever but I think it might be a waste of money. Never used it in my reef though

beating a dead horse-- but you might as well pee in your tank. At least that would be free.

If your tank is going through its setup cycle do not to water changes.
You don't need to worry about the pH now as well.
Once your tank has cycled start with the recommendations Playa-1 gave you. RO/DI for top-off, 10% weekly water changes and a 2 part alk / calcium supplement.
I use this one: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-02/rhf/index.php
You'll have to keep Mg controled as well. Take a look in the Reef Chemistry Forum.

It's actually perfectly okay (and good in most cases) to do water changes during a cycle, but that's a different subject.
