Tell me about it... I played baseball since as early as I can remember and have pictures of me as a baby teetering around after my father on the field at Busch Stadium.

I was being scouted going into my senior year until 10 games in when I tore my labrum on a headfirst slide. After that, the phone magically stopped ringing.

The past 3 mlb drafts have been rough to watch to say the least, as a good majority of my friends are now playing pro ball.

Everything happens for a reason though, and if I was playing pro ball I would have no time for a reef tank

You'll note that you added "just" to my statement, making it sound less valuable. That's your fault, not mine.

I just posted this in another thread so I'm going to copy-n-paste the contents here:

Chemi-clean: Nothing to worry about, totally safe, used it many many times. I just treated my reef about 10 days ago, leaving it in the system for 5 days while the cyano died off. The entire time my skimmer was off, and I didn't run carbon either.

As always, it works as advertised. Another brand that works is Blue Life's Red Slime Control. It too will get rid of that red stuff, and takes just about the same amount of time. Then I change a bunch of water, fire up the skimmer, run carbon actively in a Phosban Reactor, and empty the collection cup about hourly as the skimmer pulls out all kinds of watery goop. I just replace that water with newly mixed saltwater.

If you want to add an airstone, you can. However, with a sump incorporated, air and water is mixed in the drainpipe and poured into the sump fully oxygenated. The return pump pushes this water back up.

If you have a refugium going and you see cyano in there, turn that light off as well.

Three Days of Darkness method...
It is very weird to walk past a fully dark tank when you know it should be lit. By day 3 you'll really be itching to flip on some switches. Clean your skimmer every day, and by day three you should see even more skimmate as free-floating algae will die and be exported. All cyano should be dead. If you have an SPS reef, please watch the livestock closely as they may not do well with no light for that many days. I've done it with great results (lost a couple of frags), but now will only do it for two days in a row.
Marc, its on one little sps frag and nothing else in the tank.
I appreciate what you posted and what I have read and followed in the past if cyano gets out of hand but in this case isn't it a little over kill for one frag.
Could you dip it in a solution of red slime remover?

T.J. what you have is not red slime bacteria it is a red macroalgae and a bad one. You should remove it all by hand.
I remember someone in the macroaglae forum describing it.

Wow more support for Nanogurl and Sarah

Thank you Raen
what only read a few pages---that is no initiation into the Tswifty group thread. He have to spend the necessary 2 hours going through the whole thread and then we ask you test questions after

but don't be upset, future members will have to read for three hours if this thread splits again.

I wouldn't dip the coral. Just turkey baste the red stuff off, or siphon it out.

that's a very good idea

someone on the sps forum suggested that sps's got covered with cyano and green algae ect from being exposed to too much direct flow or being too close to power heads
I don't know if I buy that or not?
